Coptis Capsule
Recommended Daily Dose:
Take two capsules, three times a day

(Individual Dosage May Vary. Please Consult Health Care Professional)

Original Herb:

Coptis chinensis Franch

Chemical Composition:

The major chemical ingredient of Coptis chinensis is umbellatine.

Pharmacology:

Pharmacological studies found that Coptis Capsule has wide-spectrum anti-infectious properties.

Anti-bacterial actions: Coptis Capsule can strongly suppress Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus, Pneumococcus, Vibrio comma,  and Bacillus dysenteriae. It can also suppress Hay bacillus, Pneumobacillus, Bacillus diphtheriae, Bordetella pertussis, Brucellaceae, and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Its potency is roughly equal to or stronger than that of sulfanilamide and slightly weaker than that of streptomycin and chloramphenicol.

Anti-viral actions: Coptis Capsule can suppress influenza viruses and Newcastle disease virus in vitro.

Other anti-pathogen actions: Coptis Capsule can suppress Ameba, Chlamydi trachomatis, Trichomonad, and Leptospira.

Besides anti-infectious effects, Coptis Capsule has anti-cancer, anti-radiation, and blood-sugar-regulatory effects. In treating chronic hepatitis, its cholagogic (bile-secretion-facilitating) effect is especially useful.

Toxicity: Coptis Capsule is a very safe herbal remedy, with virtually no side effects. Long-term use has not caused any adverse reactions and no accumulative toxicity. LD50 for rats is 205mg/kg.
